Holistic Wellness & Cultural Integration

We support emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural wellness through culturally informed practices, prevention services, and healing-centered approaches that strengthen family bonds and promote long-term wellbeing. Our work recognizes that wellness is holistic and interconnected-addressing not only individual needs, but the health of the family, tiospaye, and community as a whole.

Services are rooted in Lakota values and ways of knowing, honoring the role of culture, spirituality, and identity in healing and resilience. We incorporate culturally grounded supports alongside appropriate referrals to behavioral health, counseling, and prevention services, ensuring families receive care that is respectful, accessible, and responsive to their lived experiences.

Prevention services focus on strengthening families before crises occur, offering education, support, and resources that promote healthy relationships, emotional regulation, and positive parenting. Healing-centered approaches acknowledge the impacts of historical trauma, systemic inequities, and intergenerational harm, while emphasizing strengths, connection, and restoration rather than punishment or blame.

This program also supports cultural connection as a protective factor-encouraging participation in cultural practices, ceremonies, language, and community activities that reinforce identity and belonging. By supporting the whole person and the whole family, our wellness services help reduce stress, promote healing, and build strong, nurturing environments where children and families can thrive together.
